Unfinished Business
A Toby Dunbar Novel
Book 2 of "The Buried Truth Trilogy"
The murder charge is only the beginning.
As Toby Dunbar is pushed deeper into jail, pressure, and the growing case around Skinny Jim’s death, old debts and unfinished truths begin closing in from every side. Friends return. Enemies circle. Sandy moves farther away. Billy Jr. gets pulled toward danger. And every room Toby enters seems to carry one more piece of a story he still cannot fully see.
Nothing about the case is clean.
Nothing about the night is settled.
And nothing buried stays buried forever.
Unfinished Business is the pressure-book of the trilogy — darker, tighter, and more personal, where the cost of survival is no longer only freedom.
It is trust.

4 out of 5 stars A Strong Follow-Up with Plenty of Suspense Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2026 Format: Kindle This sequel pulls you right back into Toby Dunbar’s world and keeps the tension high from beginning to end. The mystery grows more complicated as new secrets surface, making it difficult to know who can truly be trusted. I enjoyed how the story balances the investigation with the personal struggles of the characters. Toby’s relationships, the growing pressure surrounding the case, and the constant sense that something bigger is unfolding kept me interested throughout. The ending leaves enough unanswered questions to make me want to continue the trilogy. Fans of character-driven crime fiction and slow-burning suspense will likely enjoy this installment just as much as the first.
