Reviews

Andrew Barrett has to be one of the most consistent authors out there. Every novel is full of gritty, real-life drama, mixed with the kindness of human souls, and with plot twists that will keep you rivetted until the very end. The Dark Arches, the second outing for DS Regan Carter, is no exception. It is easy to believe that there are people as callous as Bradshaw, as Psychopathic as Eric, out in this world, and it brings a sense of comfort that there are also people like DS Carter and DI Benson with the determination and tenacity to bring them to justice at every opportunity. All this is set against the challenge of corruption amongst the police ranks making Carter's job even tougher. Once Again, a highly engaging read from the pen of Mr Barrett, and another book that pulls you back time after time.

Reader review

Wow, I’m just trying to get my breath back after finishing this book. Another relentless trail of gripping action that I couldn’t get enough of, with twists and turns in every chapter. Andrew Barrett’s books are dark, sinister and unputdownable, this one perhaps even more than previous ones. To say I loved it would be wrong (although I did) - I was grabbed by it, compelled by it, had to keep reading it and felt like I was living it. The realism and genuine insider knowledge set it on a level way above your ‘ordinary’ thriller. Very much looking forward to Regan Carter Book 3

This is a brilliant follow-up to what was a terrific first in the series. This was a nonstop thrilling ride. I tore through it feverishly and couldn't put it down. This has everything you could ask for in a book. It's fast paced, violent, humourous and full of tense moments. It's hard to see how any next book could top this.
