Black by Rose - CSI Eddie Collins Book
Formats: E-Book, Paperback
Ages: 18+
Crime Scene Investigator, Eddie Collins, always did the right thing – only this time it could kill him.
Eddie knew there was something out of place. It was a double murder but rigged to look like a murder-suicide, and it was high-profile enough for the Major Crime Unit (MCU) to recruit him.
But that’s when Eddie’s problems really began.
Slade Crosby’s vile gang, murder, rape, and rob their way around the city. The MCU have been trying to bring down the whole family for years, but Slade always wriggled free – growing stronger, further out of reach.
When Eddie finds a victim dead, he takes things to a dangerous new level, and discovers why Slade is always one step ahead. Someone is prepared to sell-out undercover officers, prepared to kill Eddie Collins too, just to stay away from their own past.
With a gun at his head, Eddie must find a way to survive, and then go after Slade and his accomplice. Time is running out, and if he fails, his will be the first of many funerals.
Reviews
This is another cracker from Andrew Barrett. A well written police procedural where you can guarantee that the "procedural " is spot on. The plot is well thought out and moves at a good pace, taking the reader on an emotional journey through a number of twists and turns. There is no way of working out what is likely to come next and at times one gasps at events. I loved the final denouement of the investigation and found Eddie's solution very satisfactory too.
Another well written and enjoyable book from Andrew. Love the pace of the stories that keep the reader hooked, always find I just want to read a bit more that soon turns into several chapters. The main character of Eddie Collins is absolutely terrific, yes he does come across as miserable towards others in the book, but I find myself really liking him. The twists at the finish of the story were very good and alongside Ros the other main character in the stories, I would hope there will be many more books to follow. Highly recommend the series.
