The Collaborator

Formats: E-Book, Paperback

Ages: 12-15, 16-18, 18+

Set in an alternative world, Matrea is under the dystopian rule of Calder, a tyrannical ruler, the latest in a thousand year dynastic line. He is passing evermore harsh laws and oppressing the people. Dhazi understands that young people are the key to a rebellion, adults are to crushed to do anything. He unites warring gangs and starts a campaign. Calder is well aware on the rebellion and knows who they all are, but does nothing to stop them, and even shuts down police investigations into their activities.

What the rebels don't know is that there is a good reason why Calder is letting the rebellion grow.

Reviews

'If you like 1984 by George Orwell you will enjoy this.' In this alternative world called Matrea, Calder, the despot in charge, divides and rules with Al surveillance, tyranny and oppression. Trouper describes a world which is both terrifying and believable and has sinister similarities to a realistic potential future on planet Earth. At the heart of the story is Dhazi, a clever and resourceful protagonist who dares to believe in revolution. Together with a few faithful young friends he mounts a resistance. Yet Trouper reveals the harsh irony of Dhazi's struggle: his rebellion is not the independent uprising he imagines. Calder, ever the strategist, has other plans for him. The characters and the depth of their relationships, especially between Dhazi and Ayeka, are nuanced and believable. The twists and turns, deceits and disloyalty are endlessly intriguing and surprising. The Collaborator is both a thrilling narrative and a cautionary tale. For fans of dystopian fiction that resonates with contemporary anxieties, this is a must-read.

5 stars TG Trouper really knows how to draw the reader in, immersing me into this unique world that he has created. He masterfully endeared me to his characters where I felt their joy, grief, and anger right alongside them. The Collaborator took me on a journey with unexpected turns that shocked and excited me throughout with an ending I didn’t see coming. Just who is The Collaborator?
