Thunder over the Grass - Maliha Anderson 5

Formats: E-Book, Paperback, Hardback

Ages: 18+

Missing babies in Johannesburg, and nobody cares

Maliha Anderson and her entourage travel to South Africa to return Riette's baby to the father's family on what should be a simple mission of mercy.

But they are soon embroiled in race politics and something even darker: Children are disappearing but no one cares because they are black.

In a battle against a vast subversive power Maliha discovers the worst horrors that man can commit, and struggles to bring the true perpetrators to justice. But what can one woman do? In a past that never was, the fifth book in the Maliha Anderson series explores a new land, new people and new relationships, with vivid descriptions, intriguing characters, and crisp, elegant prose.

(Please note, although a complete story this does run directly into the next, and final, volume.)

Reviews

I flat out love the Maliha Anderson series. Steve Turnbull's books are great. I don't even remember how I ran into this about a year ago, but then I promptly bought them all. I've read them a couple of times now. Great steampunk.

Reader review

If you are new to these stories then do not start here - you will miss the gradual development of some truly brilliant characters. For those who have read the others in the series this one is even better and gradually links with the last book. This isn't the typical 'fast paced ripping yarn', it is more thoughtful character driven and sinister. When the action comes it is fast and builds rather than detracts from the plot. I hate reviews that give away the plot - suffice to say this is another strong story, the characters continue to evolve and once again I couldn't put it down. Okay - next instalment please!!
