Tom McHendry began his working life as an apprentice design draughtsman with British Steel. Later he gained his health and safety qualifications and became a consultant working in the petrol chemical industry, a power station and various businesses, including the whisky industry. The health and safety authorities in Edinburgh used his noise assessment to train their inspectors. Lately, he and his wife moved to Aberdeenshire where they built a small holiday park overlooking the Moray Firth. Now retired, he has turned to writing, joining local writing clubs and producing his first novel. He has two sons and four grandchildren.
