The blurb suggests it, but this story starts off with a post-apocalyptic YA protagonist and goes nowhere but up. Ever more depths are plunged, with every stereotypical individual peeling the layers back as we follow their point of view to reveal very human motivations. The characters drive the story, but the plot is fast and decisive. The multi-perspective storytelling gets right to the action as we follow our heroes and villains across a once-great city with wonders lost to those born after. If you enjoyed Patterson's The Lake House, you'll like this. A book I'm sure to reread. Bravo.
Such a great story! This book was right up my alley filled with action and suspense in a dystopian setting. MONSTERS is set up to read like a television show, but in book format. There is a lot to this book, but very well written and engaging. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sci-fi dystopian stories. I really look forward to reading more!
