Finally! This is the year eleven-year-old Dorrie has been waiting for! She and her younger brother Gerry get to go on their own to Gran's for the whole summer.

They don't know it yet, but Gran's going to teach them about the whole Wheel of the Year in just a few weeks. She's going to help them make their own Books of Shadows, and even show them some spells (all with their parents' permission).

But will all that be enough to keep Dorrie from worrying that somebody close to her might die?
