In the Service of Life: A Wiccan Priestess' Perspective on Death

Genres: Religion
Formats: Paperback

"Death will always be sad, but it doesn't ever have to be scary again." Each of us learns and understands in many different ways, so, from a Wiccan perspective, this book talks about death in many different ways. Reading it, you can learn to see death as a step in the spiral dance of life. We know that euphemizing and denying death isn't healthy; fortunately, we know it's not our only option. Directly yet gently, honestly, and sympathetically, this book explores another way, a magical way, of looking at death, dying, and surviving ... in the service of life.

In the Shadows of Adventure: Adventure Wicca's Elucidated Book of Shadows

Genres: Religion
Formats: Paperback

Written by the Tradition's founders and leaders of its first coven, In the Shadows of Adventure introduces a fusion of the modern Pagan religion of Wicca with humanity's ancient, innate urge to explore. Adventure is distinct among Wicca's Traditions: known and defined by synthesis and innovation, it's the nature of Adventure to set out from convention and ease to make camp in the woods beyond. The foundations of this Trad are a brave heart, a hospitable camp, and the urge - no, the calling - to see what's around the next bend, where we'll confront and reclaim the personal power our shadows hold in trust for us. This handbook is the only one to take you inside the Tradition, revealing its premises and history, and describing its practice. A complete Book of Shadows and more, it's an illustrated and in-depth exegesis of the Tradition's fundamentals and its singular interpretation of...

The Boatbuilder's Tale and Other Oregon Memories (as told to Ashleen O'Gaea)

Genres: Memoir
Formats: Paperback

Bob Fariss was quite a guy, and an Oregon guy through and through. He especially loved the Oregon coast, and that's the setting of many of his stories. He built boats as a hobby, for himself and for friends, and though they were small, he took them out past the three-mile limit every chance he got. It was a delight to read his letters about "the olden days;" only one or two of them about a time later than 1950. Just slightly edited, they're pretty much as he wrote them, and I hope you take as much pleasure in reading the boatbuilder's tales as I did.

The Prince Patrick Stories & Other Tales for Children

Genres: Children's fiction
Formats: Paperback
Age Groups: 5-8, 8-11

These eight original faery tales - about a prince, dragons, unicorns, trolls, and more - are for children of all ages. They're ideal for clever children to read on their own (or to younger friends or siblings), and fun for grown-ups to read to little ones at bedtime or on a quiet afternoon. Some of these stories are about a real boy and some of his adventures, even though they sound different in the telling than they looked in the doing. Some of the stories are about the children who live in them; some were told to the author by the magical creatures they're about. We usually save the moral of the story for the end, but just this once, I'll tell it to you now, and give you a little blessing to go with it: Your life is your adventure, and you are its star, so when you grow...

It's All About the Little White Dog: A History of the West Highland White Terrie

Genres: History
Formats: Paperback

One of my Scottish clan's forebears developed and named "the little white dog," the West Highland White Terrier. This book was inspired by that heritage - I'm a proud member of the Clan MacCallum-Malcollm - and by my own little white dogs, Wee Dram and Islay Single Malt. This legendary tale is told from public record, and I hope it puts Col. Malcolm's contribution in perspective. We may never know the intimate details, but we do know that he changed his kennel's breeding program when one of his dogs was accidentally shot ... and the rest, as they say, is history. Our "clancestor's" commitment and devotion merits more than the one or two paragraphs he and his dogs' story usually get in breed books. I hope you agree, and enjoy this version of the story every MacCallum and Malcolm - and every lover of Westies - should know.

Not even four more centuries of iniquity, misunderstanding, and disdain could drain its energy. It would take two 21st-century witches, one on either side of the charisma's ancestral power, to ground its terrifying energy.
