When his first-ever Grade 6/7 school camping trip almost turns into a disaster, he solves it—by using a magic wand given to him by his tutor!
After that, all goes smoothly—for a while. Then his first report card in Grade 8 contains a negative comment about his behaviour in the Shop class! And his parents meet with the teacher!

Brian’s Got This Beat is based on the true story of a young newcomer, a courageous ten-year old—whose tutor becomes a guiding light, providing both English lessons and moral support—as he is trying to adapt to his new life. Young, vulnerable immigrants face many challenges as they experience both triumphs and setbacks, setbacks often impacting their mental health.
