Death Duties (A Rose Bennett Mystery #3) - The Rose Bennett Mysteries 3
Formats: E-Book, Paperback
A murdered groom, a grieving fiancee, and a contract killer with nothing to lose? It's all in a day's work for private investigator Rose Bennett.
Everyone thought that Nathan Kingsley was a local hero. A talented sportsman and an honest businessman, he’d loved and cherished his fiancée Alice and her daughter Olivia since long before they decided to tie the knot. But when someone pays a contract killer to shoot Nathan dead on the day of his wedding, and his devious brother Luke tries to disinherit the grieving Alice of everything Nathan had ever done for her, it begins to look as though Nathan wasn’t much of a hero after all.
It’s no surprise to Rose Bennett that the East & Northern Bank wants a thorough investigation into Nathan Kingsley’s affairs. The violent death of a high profile customer is bound to be bad for business, especially when his bank accounts have shown signs of financial irregularity. But as Rose attempts to untangle Nathan’s twisted financial affairs, and DI George Mulligan finds himself out of his depth in the hunt for his killer, a pattern begins to emerge.
Nathan Kingsley was keeping secrets, secrets someone wanted him to carry to the grave. And as those secrets are revealed, and danger comes ever closer to Alice, Olivia and Luke, Rose Bennett finds herself facing the very worst kind of killer, a killer without a conscience. For the man who murdered Nathan Kingsley, compassion is nothing if the price is right. And duty is just a business obligation, to deliver death to order for whoever is paying the bill.
Reviews
Really enjoyed this book.Maybe I have begun to relate to the main Characters more. This was probably psychologically the "darkest" book but definitely the best so far in the series.
Third Installment in the Rose Bennett, banking investigation expert. This is an enjoyable read and I would highly recommend. It's a murder mystery with the added detail of Rose being a financial expert investigating processes at ENB bank. I couldn't figure out how I'd missed this series of books - it's categorised under business banking and not murder mysteries. If you like the Hilary Greene series try this - hope there's more books in the pipeline.
These are enjoyable mysteries. The plot can take some unusual turns. Or not … it keeps you guessing. The characters have developed into old friends and I often find myself liking the cast more than the lead! And the banking background is good. It make the stories realistic. I shall be downloading the next one very soon
