Reviews

I purchased two of Lynn Lok-Payne’s Gratitude 101 Journals—a green one for myself and a blue one for a friend. It was fun to have a choice in book covers, especially for a book that you pick up every day—or in my case, when I remember it. Gratitude is meant to be expressed, but frequently doesn’t make it past the initial thought to word. I find I often take daily gifts and opportunities for granted—unless something goes wrong. The Gratitude 101 Journal is less a book than a process—a process involving affirmations, inspirational quotes and prompts for writing. Many people shy away from prompts, finding them too confining, but Gratitude 101’s combination of inspiration and affirmations can provide a launching point for your own thoughts. Being a when-I-remember type of journaler with a monkey mind, I found the prompts opened my mind and gave a direction for my thoughts. They inspired me to think a little deeper, to identify for myself what brings me joy, and to examine what positive circumstances and things are already present in my life. In addition, some prompts helped to set intentions for the future, one day at a time. Each prompt begins with an inspirational quote such as this one by Dan Gutman: “Sometimes we spend so much time and energy thinking about where we want to go that we don’t notice where we happen to be.” The opposite page shares an affirmation such as “Today I will enjoy the journey.” Three short prompts follow, with blank lines between each one for you to write your own thoughts of gratitude. “I feel optimistic when…” or “I am grateful for my friendship with…” The Gratitude 101 Journal is a quick and easy way to focus on what’s going right in your life. And to acknowledge it in a concrete way. After 101 days of thinking and writing about what you have going for you, gratitude might just become a habit—one that you will be grateful for.

I know a daily gratitude practice can increase one's well-being. But sometimes the pressure of a blank page can be overwhelming. That's why I love the Gratitude 101 Journal - each day contains an affirmation and 3 thought-provoking prompts that have encouraged me to focus on all the positive things in my life, instead of drowning in the negative. And I appreciate the inspiring quotes! Using this journal has increased my gratitude and happiness. I've realized that no matter how busy I am, it only takes a few minutes a day to commit to having a more positive and grateful mindset. I recommend this gratitude journal!

I received this book as a gift. I loved it so much I ordered more to give as gifts. I have used other Gratitude Journals. This one is better. It is uncomplicated, full of quotes and easy to use. I like the writing style well enough to order other books by this author.
