Immortality and magic, a gift and a curse.
Aella Saluagius is a powerful elemental witch gifted with immortality who has unleashed vengeance on centuries of misogyny and the men who wronged women throughout history.
Having witnessed the repercussions of romantic love, she thought herself immune to its temptation. But Cupid’s arrow strikes when she sees the bewitching Maso Grimani in 17th century London.
The Puritan witch burnings are over and men have a new pursuit with the King’s blessing — the quest for gold and the Elixir of Life. But within Alchemy’s allure lies a profound mystery, for the seekers have no notion of the consequences it may bring. When Maso reveals his deepest desires, Aella tastes the formidable power of love for herself. Persuaded by his charms, she can deny him nothing, her magic the key to their shared fortunes.
Her loyalty is tested when those she loves are endangered; she will stop at nothing to guarantee their safety. But within her power lies great responsibility. Aella stands at a crossroads, uncertain which path to take.
Immortality and magic now demand the highest price.
Reviews
Absolutely loved this tale. The second in the series by this fabulous author. A tale of Aella, a brave and strong sorceress....love story or a warning of misogynistic virility? I won't spoil it, you decide.
Aella in past books has been the protector. Here Aella is able to experience feeling's of her own. It looks like a love story and a chance to meet Aella as the woman. Don't be fooled. The book twist and turns with the same depth of writing as seen in the first adventure. The book is historically informative, insightful to the power of plants and nature in medicine .The battle with social injustice is constant with empathy and power throughout the book. Very thought provoking while being a very good read.
Read this in two days, couldn’t put it down!! I read 5 books on my holiday and this was my favourite!! Carol Ann Moore, this was a fabulous edition to The Aella Chronicles. I loved the factual/fiction of the English history, highlighting again the misogynistic views of the patriarchy and how women are feared as they are stronger together… where will Aella go next?? I hope you are already writing book 3!
