This is the concluding book of the Shangri-la Trilogy. It covers the first year of Justin's marriage to Djet, an ambitious lawyer determined to promote the advancement of her Aboriginal people.
They must face the challenges of integrating their very different backgrounds and career paths.
Two characters, who throughout the story have been on the periphery of the action, Vincent Kaine and Mike Kells, now, for a brief moment, take centre stage, in a dramatic confrontation which will have important effects on Justin's future and his relationship with Djet.
And it is fitting that Peter Fielding, whose arrival at Shangri-la so long ago began the story, has the final word.
