Reviews

Set in Regency England, The Lady in the Veil by Allie Cresswell introduces a rich cast of characters, all with compelling stories. Although it is the second novel in The Talbot Saga, the story stands on its own and provides a delicious sense of mystery as you delve into Georgina’s unique plight and uncover the truth of who she truly is. And while her story is at the heart of the novel, the diversity of side characters really shines and takes the novel to another level. I found this to be an engaging social commentary that explores all corners and classes of society and displays the varied shades of humanity: their foibles and vices, their hopes and victories. Strong themes, such as racism and prejudice, personal growth and self-acceptance, and what it means to be seen and to truly see others, are touched on, making it a satisfying and enjoyable read.
