Open Heart - City General: Medic 1 Series 2
Formats: E-Book, Paperback
Ages: 18+
Between life-saving callouts and career ambitions, the last thing cardiothoracic resident Izzy Frost expects is to fall for the paramedic with the magnetic smile.
Open Heart is a steamy sapphic medical romance set at City General Hospital, where a brilliant junior doctor collides with Cara O’Leary, the quick-witted paramedic who crashes into her ordered world.
Fireworks in a lift turn into a one-night mistake that neither can forget. The next shift makes everything complicated. She is the new doctor in theatre. She is the paramedic on the trauma bay. Professional distance frays as banter becomes late-night coffees and a slow, undeniable pull. This is lesbian medical romance with hospital realism, tender aftercare, and a payoff that feels earned.
Complications mount. Izzy struggles with coming out to a high-achieving family and a chief of surgery who loves control. Cara carries working-class pride, old scars, and a refusal to be anyone’s secret. When a family emergency and a hospital scandal hit, both women must choose what matters most and whether love can survive the spotlight.
Reviews
Great series Cara is an EMT and former firefighter. During an evening at a gay club she meets Izzy and they have a wonderful night. Meeting again on the job the next day is a surprise and delight. Can this unexpected attraction lead to more. Sweet romance series.
This was a hard read for me given my background in medicine, yet it was also kind of easy for the... Ruby Scott has written a well balanced story of life around the OR, ER and residency/fellowship training. Living through these experiences including falling in love at the same time, it is remarkable how close this book is to reality. I am pleased with the level of character development, how the characters leaned upon each other had real faults and fears, just makes this book one that many people should read and enjoy. I do recommend this book and hope you will support the author.
