One created to slay, the other to save.

Joe and Leven; two supernatural beings conceived in a Petri-dish, their function poles apart. Leven is Dr Krieger’s most prized assassin, Joe his greatest failure. When Joe’s influence revolutionises Leven’s sense of purpose, a night of chaos tears the teenage friends apart.

Years later, as Calleston city chokes under supernatural warfare, rumours of a rogue assassin spread. Joe’s ragtag band of warriors might actually stand a chance of defeating his father’s cyborg army if they can join forces with the vigilante, but when the rogue’s identity is revealed, no-one expects it to be their sworn enemy. If Joe can’t keep Leven’s true identity and their past a secret, he’ll lose his friends, and her—again.

Secrets, prejudices, and distrust. In their shadow, will Dr Krieger’s hateful legacy triumph, or can his creations join forces and survive?

Reviews

Rogue Assassin is a highly enjoyable, pacy read with a great cast of characters. Leven is created to be a Super Breed Assassin, designed to eradicate the so-called ‘Super Breeds’ (vampires, shapeshifters, werewolves) living in the city of Calleston. But after she escapes and burns down the Institute where she was being experimented on, she switches to defending those she was bred to kill. Six years later, Leven is still battling the shadowy Section 26, who are gradually killing and disappearing SBs from the city. Her path crosses with Joe and his SB and human friends who are also seeking to take down Section 26 and end the cleansing of SBs. But, unknowing, Leven and Joe share close links in their past that have led them both to this point… Can they achieve more together than they can apart? Like its genetically engineered lead characters, Rogue Assassin is a story that splices together genres and will appeal to a wide variety of readers. It is by turns dystopian, sci-fi, fantasy, paranormal. And it’s also a gripping, action-packed thriller, full of multi-dimensional characters with intriguing and believable relationships. Recommended!

Having devoured every single book this author has written so far and loved every word; I was very excited when she released a new standalone novel. Rogue Assassin is a departure for her in that it’s dystopian. Unscrupulous scientists are harvesting the abilities of paranormal creatures such as vampires, shifters, and demons and have created a super soldier designed to hunt and exterminate them. Engrossing, gripping, page-turning, unputdownable – I could go on listing superlatives from here to eternity. This author does suspense well, but she also does people. Relatable, three-dimensional, sympathetic people that the reader can get inside and understand. Well-written and nicely paced, I consumed this book over three lunch hours and wished there was more. With an ending I loved, this is a book for fans of The Hunger Games and Divergent books, although, in my opinion, this is far superior.
