When I finished reading it, the story called out to be reread so I could think about the many references, from Midwest small town to Greek legend, that make this a serious and reflective piece. I don’t want to oversell its complexity: a reader can enjoy it as a wonderful short story and leave it at that. But I found the more I thought about it, the more complex it became.
Wynne has such a gift in the way he masterfully brings each and every character to life while also creating a haunting and thought-provoking story.
