Afternoon - Tree Line Story Book Series

Formats: E-Book

Ages: 18+

In a time of fear, even a kiss can feel like a decision.

Los Angeles, 1984. Almost thirty, Dan is searching for something steadier than the drifting life he's been living. In the shadow of a growing health crisis, he's begun to question his next move.

At Larry Edmunds Cinema Bookshop, Dan meets Barry, a young assistant cameraman with bright ideas and a romantic streak. They spend the afternoon together in Griffith Park, talking, filming, sharing a picnic in the sunlit quiet above the city.

But as the light begins to fade, so does the certainty of the moment.

John Stewart Wynne was nominated for the Lambda Literary Award for Best Gay Fiction for his novel THE RED SHOES. As an audio book producer, he was also nominated for a Grammy Award.

His writing has been praised by, among others, National Book Award winner Paul Monette, American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters Award recipient Hubert Selby, Jr., and Lambda Literary Award winner Rebecca Brown.

Reviews

With his uniquely cool style, John Stewart Wynne has us spend an oddly disturbing afternoon comprised of romance and sex. But not in that order.

Christopher Street

This story is extraordinarily poignant, sincerely describing the loss experienced by two gay men as a result of the advent of AIDS. I was alternatively enthralled, deeply moved and saddened.

This story will resonate with anyone who has tried to change patterns in his life, but who finds that the old demons are still there ready to take over. A story to read and reread.
