Fat Dogs and French Estates, Part I

Formats: E-Book, Paperback, Hardback, Large print

Ages: 18+

Buying a country estate in France seemed such a simple thing to accomplish. When Beth, her irascible husband Jack, and their two fat dogs set off, little do they know that it will become such an extraordinary adventure.

Surviving near-death experiences, they drive thousands of kilometres around French estates steeped in history and crazy aristocrats.

Will they find their dream home, or return to Britain defeated?
This is the hilarious first instalment in the Fat Dogs series.

Reviews

I downloaded this book onto my kindle planning to get to it, eventually. For a rainy day, I always have a few books saved up. I read the first page and just had to keep reading. I loved this book and Beth’s original writing style. Grumpy Jack is my hero. Beth’s humour is clever and original. I laughed out loud in some parts and really enjoyed the banter. “He can make a leather wallet from a pork’s nose” had me giggling for ages. Bravo Beth. Onto the next one now. Five stars from me.

All I can say is 'I'm hooked'. I am late in discovering this series, but so glad that I did. Fat Dogs and French Estates part 1, Follows the ever optimistic Beth and her often grumpy husband Jack in their search for their ideal estate in France. Beth takes us on a roller coaster ride (sometimes literally) through the French countryside in what is both a fun and informative read. I have lived in France myself for almost 12 years, but still discovered new facts about the country. The characters that you meet along the way are as weird and wonderful as their properties. Beth Haslam is a natural story teller, she has a keen eye for a good yarn, and a way with words that had me laughing out aloud on many an occasion. I have already bought my box set of books 1-3. I can't wait to get my teeth into the next instalment.
