The Visitor - Duality Novels

Formats: E-Book, Paperback

Ages: 18+

Two outsiders connected by love. Four hundred years apart.

2019. Trainee teacher Stacie Hayward is spending the summer with her brilliant, academic family. And with her ghosts. It’s a strange gift that she’s had since childhood – and learned to keep quiet about.
When Stacie’s parents invite American professor Nate to stay, Stacie’s ghosts suddenly vanish. Then Stacie is visited by the ghost of a young woman who calls her cousin and who offers to protect her. But protect her from what?

1619. Sarah Bartlett, a young healer, is suspected of witchcraft. The only person to defend her is John Dillington, the new parson. But is he in love – or bewitched? And can he save her from the flames?
Alone and bewildered, Stacie uncovers more of her past and realises that choices made long ago are rippling through time to threaten her. History may be repeating itself – but this time, it’s Stacie who’s in danger.

The Visitor is the first in a new series of Duality Novels that always feature two storylines, somehow connected.

Reviews

One of my particular favorite genres of books to read, is fantasy with a little, witchcraft, paranormal, ghosts, and time travel, together with romance thrown in. The Visitor checks off all the boxes and does it well. Sara Sartagne pulls together an amazing and entertaining book. The parallel of time for Sarah and Stacie and the ties and loves of their lives is something I truly enjoyed. I want to read more from this author since I am now totally intrigued!!

This was my first Sara Sartagne novel, and it will not be the last (in fact, I already have two more on my TBR pile)! Beautifully written, I was swept into this dual timeline story in an instant. Sara has a wonderful way with words and takes you on a fascinating, at times scary, often extremely relatable journey as the lives of Stacie (n the present day) and Sarah (in the brutal, unrelenting past of the early 17th century) interweave and ultimately collide. The transitions between timelines was seamless for me as a reader. Simply through language and subtle description, I always knew exactly where I was. The author made something complex feel easy, and that's the mark of real talent. It’s a story of love, belief and sacrifice for Sarah and, for both women, about finding their place in their respective worlds. Sarah’s destiny is heartbreaking, but the author shifted so easily from the past to the present and back, I took great comfort from the way the story developed and the characters from the past slowly integrated into Stacie’s modern-day life and, ultimately, saved her, and therefore brought themselves peace. I absolutely adored the visions that kept Stacie company too – the cat, especially, but also the governess and eventually, Sarah and her lost love, John. Great story-telling, a book that lingered with me long after I’d closed the pages. I didn’t put it down from picking it up – page-turning at its best! Highly recommended.
