Kaylon Bruner Tran grew up in Grenada, Mississippi (USA). After receiving undergraduate degrees in Biology and Chemistry (and an accidental minor in Theatre), she decided to pursue a career in medical research. She earned a PhD in Reproductive Pathology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and eventually joined their medical school faculty. Her 25-year research career focused on the generational effects of maternal or paternal toxicant exposures. Although an avid reader, she never seriously considered trying her hand at writing fiction until her family's decision to do DNA analysis led to the discovery of a previously unknown relative. The resulting novel, Time Intertwined, was published in 2021 and received the Literary Titan Gold Award for historical fiction. She has since written three other historical fiction novels and two psychological thrillers. After hanging up her lab coat in 2025, she returned to her native Mississippi where she now balances her time between freelance medical writing and creating fictional stories for mystery and history lovers.
