The Fire Within - The Marine Letsco Triology 1
Formats: E-Book, Audio, Paperback
Ages: 16-18, 18+
If you enjoy the stories of Mickey Spillane or Sue Grafton, you will find The Marine Letsco Trilogy an intriguing read.
In Book One, on a cruise to the Caribbean, Marine Letsco is on her first vacation in ten years from her job with Transcontinental Solutions where she works as an assassin. She finds herself entangled in a murder-for-hire, a murder conspiracy, and a fall that results in her losing her memory. Aided by Dr. Chester Henegar, a neuropsychiatrist, Marine begins a danger-filled quest to regain her memory. The deeper she searches, the more she becomes convinced she may not want to know who she was.
The Fire Within is the first book in the Marine Letsco Trilogy, a series full of intrigue, romance, and a little murder mixed with thrills to keep you turning the page.
Reviews
If you hate winter like I do, you can live vicariously through the pages of Pam B. Newberry’s exciting new thriller, The Fire Within, the first in a trilogy of books centered on secret agent Marine Letsco. For those who have been on a cruise before, it will put you back on the ship, hopefully minus the espionage, murder and deceit. If you haven’t, it will make you feel like you have. The trained assassin suffers an accident while aboard ship that results in amnesia. As you suffer along with Marine as she attempts to rediscover who she is, the possibility that she may not want to know all the answers looms in the air. Will she rediscover the trained killer and provocative woman she is or will she decide to start over from scratch, leaving the multilayered mystery of her past for a more promising and exciting future? Uncover these and other exciting twists and turns as The Fire Within unfolds. As are the tendencies of most mystery readers, I like to try and play detective, attempting to solve the mystery myself before reaching the end of the book. I didn’t even attempt such a feat with this book. Obviously, it is a series and leaves you hanging until you read the two sequels. Still, The Fire Within offers an unexpected turn on practically every page. The characters are unbelievable, the places are unique, and the situations are almost unfathomable. Pam Newberry proves in her debut novel why she is the writer to whom the rest of her local colleagues turn for help. She is a pro in every sense of the word. The Fire Within is a spy-thriller on paper that could blow any James Bond film out of the water.
An interesting concept, an assassin with amnesia. Unusual and well written story with strong characters and a compelling plot. I enjoyed the scenic descriptions that painted beautiful word pictures. Suspense, romance, and a Caribbean Cruise. Well done!
I love that the setting is a cruise ship. There is never a slow or dull moment. The author jumps right into the action. She even made me feel sorry at times for the main character. I can't wait for the second of this trilogy.
