A play in three acts

Rome, 20 BC

In the capital of the Empire, under the rule of Augustus, the splendor of the powerful coexists with the uncertainty of those who barely matter to History. While senators and magistrates maneuver to protect their privileges, the poet Virgil moves through Rome's most influential circles accompanied by a singular companion: a small fly with blue wings that inspires as much fascination as mockery.

In the house of Maecenas, patron of artists and advisor to the emperor, Marcus and Lucia, two young slaves, attempt to make their way in a world where freedom seems a distant dream. Around them, politicians, freedmen, poets, and courtiers represent a society proud of its greatness, yet also caught in its contradictions.

Loosely inspired by an ancient legend attributed to Virgil, Virgil's Fly is a three-act play that combines humor, satire, and emotion to explore universal themes such as power, freedom, human dignity, and the value of small things in a world dominated by great names.

An ironic and profoundly human portrait of Augustan Rome, where even the most insignificant event can reveal the true nature of a civilization.
