In 2003, a country boy from Missouri embarked on an unexpected journey after receiving an invitation to teach English at a Chinese university. That pivotal decision reshaped my life, immersing me in a world of discovery, adaptation, and cultural exchange—or, as I put it, Relocate, Rebuild, and Reinvent.
Currently living in the megacity of Chongqing, China with my wife and son, I am still in active pursuit of the Meaning of Life, a sustainable, balanced lifestyle, and authentic shrimp nachos.
Some time ago, I submitted an article to a business anthology, Success Mindsets, which became a WSJ and USA Today best seller. Thus, like winning an Olympic medal once, I can legitimately claim to be a WSJ and USA Today best selling author forever. I'm not proud.
In 2025, I released a book co-authored with Norwegian sailor, teacher, and adventurer Torgeir Higraff, We're Sinking but Not Tonight about his 2016 balsawood raft drift voyage across the Pacific.
Presently, I am working on a series of expat-themed book, The Expat Chronicles. Part memoir taken from my personal journals and part practical tips about the expat lifestyle, experiences and mindset. The plan is to release the series in 2026.
I also publish weekly expat-themed articles on Medium and Substack and my author website.
