TWO MEN. ONE EXPLOSIVE SECRET.
After Dallas moves past the question of who fired the shot, and into the wreckage left behind. It follows the men who carried out the cover-up—and the price they paid to conceal the truth. It exposes a world where everyone carries secrets, and everyone pays a price.
In the wake of the JFK assassination, a covert mission unfolds—designed to avert nuclear conflict at the height of the Cold War. Behind the plan are two operatives, tasked by the most powerful leaders in the world to bury the truth. Bound by duty but divided by conscience, they must each reckon with the cost of sustaining a dangerous lie—or risking everything to expose it.
SOME SECRETS ARE BEST KEPT HIDDEN. SOME DEMAND TO BE TOLD.
If you appreciate the psychological depth of John le Carré, the political complexity of Robert Harris, or the literary ambition of Don DeLillo—After Dallas offers a rich, character-driven experience, layered with unforgettable voices, emotional stakes, and psychological suspense that lingers long after the final page.
Blending historical fiction and political intrigue, this literary thriller explores how one event reshaped the American psyche and set in motion a legacy of ambition, betrayal, and hubris.
A story about the burden of secrecy, the corrosive cost of silence, and the moral compromises made by those who covet power.
Love is a powerful motivator, but so is retribution.
As timelines converge—from Cold War flashpoints to present-day reckonings—two men confront the consequences of their actions. One is dying, haunted by what he’s done. The other sees an opportunity to manipulate the narrative—and reshape events for personal gain.
Love, duty, family drama—and the seductive pull of unchecked power—ripple through every page.

Louis A. Rivera's AFTER DALLAS is a masterful blend of historical realism and fictional thriller, an immersive historical fiction where meticulously researched real-world events are seamlessly integrated with fictional elements to create a believable alternate reality. His prose is characterized by precise detail, vivid depictions of geopolitical dynamics, and complex character psychology. In a non-linear narrative, it allows the deep exploration of personal and political layers of the story without confusing the reader, adding depth and texture to the overall plot. It shows a contemplative tone, especially in his exploration of moral dilemmas, the weight of secrecy, and the personal costs of political duty. This reflective approach gives his characters emotional depth while also providing a reflection on Cold War politics, making his style both thought-provoking and engaging, appealing to readers who enjoy a mix of intellectual and emotional engagement in historical settings. Set in the aftermath of JFK's assassination, the novel weaves a believable and thrilling narrative where agents were caught in the web of conspiracy surrounding the President's murder, anchoring the fictional storylines into real-world events and giving the narrative an impressive sense of authenticity. One of the high points of the book is the in-depth psychological development of the characters. Each one of these five pivotal characters has been sketched painstakingly to make the reader understand their motivations, fears, and inner dilemmas. Tony De Castro bears the onus of a double life that keeps him segregated from his family. This added personal sacrifice brings up an emotional complexity in the story. His Soviet counterpart, Dimitri Ivanov, is just as intelligent, using stratagem to exact results, often burdened by what has occurred or will need to be faced regarding his decision. Rivera's smooth pacing keeps him practically sailing through such key historical moments as the Cuban Missile Crisis and the consequences of JFK's assassination. Non-linearity adds depth to the story without confusing the reader, giving a larger-scale view of the political and personal stakes involved. Fundamentally, AFTER DALLAS is a thought-provoking look at loyalty, personal sacrifice, and the moral cost of keeping secrets. Rivera's sense-imbued nuance, eschewing good versus evil for Cold War geopolitics, deeply enhances suspense and emotional stakes in the story. The novel was a page-turner full of twists, well-developed characters, and a narrative that called back to me long after the final page. A solid 5-star novel that could translate perfectly into film or miniseries. Reviewed by Flavio Correa
This book is one of the best books I have ever read. I love the characters and the way the author tells their personal stories. He doesn’t hold anything back. So thought provoking. The way he takes their lives & weaves them together is fascinating! He makes you remember each of them & their personal truths throughout the book. This book was a fast read for me, I’m a very slow reader, because I couldn’t put it down! It was exciting from page 1! It leaves you hoping that the author continues the story in a second book. Our book club wants to turn it into a movie. We have already decided on who the cast should be! Jill Gambone
