I’ll do anything to survive another day in the Garden – even die for it.

Prequel to The Society.

Carlin is a nonbinary human courtesan, preparing the way for a hero they’ve dreamed of their whole life. When the gods gift you a twin, you can’t rest until they stand by your side.

Except, Carlin lives in the faerie realm, where an attack on the ruthless fae king is brewing. It’s an assault with devastating consequences for Carlin, and the king's revenge follows their flight to the 1980's human world.

Broken and yearning for their twin, Carlin’s efforts to connect are thwarted by the blood-soaked secrets and shameful treachery of their past. But the Garden needs its Hope. Therefore, it needs Carlin.

So Carlin must learn how to accept their trauma… without drowning in it.

Filled with terrifying fae, LGBTQ storylines, and reimagined Celtic legends, The Quest is book two in the epic Tales of the Garden series.

Reviews

Carlin is desperate to keep living and surviving day to day in the garden. So much so she will even die for it. There is talk of a hero, rumours abound and they take heed of their dreams of a pure soul who is magically connected. But a plot is being hatched to stage an attack on the king. But it's a disaster and even though Carlin returns to her own world the king still seeks vengeance. Carlin must overcome her aversion and make peace with their violent past before being able to be a true mentor to her twin. But as she doesn't know where she is this is becoming a remote hope no matter how hard she tries. This was a really good read, I enjoyed this. Of course Bernard the cat was my favourite character. Often heard of books about the Seelie, the fae etc and only read one before this was a great story but as I received a complimentary ARC copy I feel I'm missing elements of the story so need to back track and catch up on the full plot as it would be a shame not to. Definitely worth a read if this is your kind of genre.
