Purple Dove

Formats: E-Book, Paperback

Ages: 18+

From her beautiful clifftop house overlooking the dramatic Yorkshire coast, Heather's life couldn't be more blissful.
Married to a respected High Court Judge, she escaped her dysfunctional parents and found the security and comfort she never thought possible. But beneath the idyllic facade lies a suffocating web of control and emotional oppression.

Finding solace within her beloved garden, Heather buries herself among her plants and vegetables, hiding from the wounds of a troubled childhood, the guilt and shame that she carries and her worthiness as a wife, and a woman.
From secret coves to harbour life, the coastal storms mirror the tempest brewing in Heather's heart. Will she find the fortitude to set sail toward her true destiny, or will fear anchor her to a life that is slowly drowning her soul? This is a story of forbidden attraction, hard-won courage and the liberating power of true love.

Trigger warning: This book contains themes of narcissistic control: physical, emotional, sexual (non-explicit), and psychological manipulation.

Beautifully and empathically written. Emotional and empowering reading; I couldn’t put it down! Beautifully and empathically written. Emotional and empowering reading; I couldn’t put it down! A truly liberating story; Purple Dove takes the reader on a journey of insight in to Heather’s life, her inner fears, her personal barriers and her self talk. It explores the impact of core beliefs, particularly around feelings of being worthy, whilst also recognising and navigating the impact of narcissistic control. Throughout Heather’s story, we gain a deep understanding of the situations she faces and the emotions she navigates. Meanwhile, the author beautifully reinforces, through Heather, the power we all hold within ourselves, to find the courage to love ourselves and the realisation that we hold the power within us to decide our own value and to not give that power to anyone else. The author brilliantly narrates Heather’s story; the story of so many, and in life things don’t always turn out how we might hope or expect, do they? and, of course, that same narrative applies to Heather too. So, will she find the courage and self worth within and find the liberation of unconditional, real, true love? As I said earlier; emotional and empowering; another beautiful and insightfully written book from J A Crawshaw; set in a beautifully described Yorkshire coastal town. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who appreciates a great story that truly touches the mind and the soul.
