Steven Eichenblatt – From Courtroom to Healing Room Steven Scott Eichenblatt is a trial lawyer, author, and father of five whose life has been shaped by a childhood marked by abandonment, trauma, and resilience. When he was eight, his biological father left the family on the advice of a psychiatrist who told him to “pretend they are dead.” Steven’s childhood that followed—marked by a volatile adoptive father and emotional instability—deeply influenced his lifelong commitment to protecting children and families. At sixteen, Steven unexpectedly crossed paths with his estranged father during a car crash he witnessed and kept secret for more than thirty years. Later in life, uncovering his father’s writings and the truth behind his disappearance offered both painful clarity and a complicated path toward forgiveness. Steven built a 30-year legal career centered on advocacy, serving as a Guardian ad Litem, volunteering for families of fallen 9/11 firefighters, and speaking to teens about navigating life’s challenges. His memoir, Pretend They Are Dead, explores the lasting effects of parental estrangement, the search for truth, and the determination to become a better father than the one he lost. Today, Steven lives in Orlando, Florida, with his wife and five children, including one adopted. Away from the courtroom, he enjoys fishing, nature, tennis, animals, and college football.
