Roz Preston is an author based in Portobello near Edinburgh. Previously she spent many years in London with her late husband, a senior music industry executive. After her varied career, including dressmaking and designing, teaching, working as a political aide and special advisor in the Blair government, then training to become a boatbuilder and building her own ocean going sailing yacht, Roz now spends several months at sea every year, including completing an Atlantic crossing. She began to explore her love of writing by embarking on a trilogy of novels in 2015. With a wealth of experience to draw on, Roz set out to explore relationships, in particular those that develop later in life which have to accommodate past lives in order to move forward into the future. Her experience of politics, the music industry and all things boat related inform her complex characters. Roz describes her genre as 'life with hand grenades thrown in.' While romance features strongly in her writing, so too do loss, grief, and the courage to embrace new beginnings. Her trilogy starts with In Repair, published by Stonebook Press, which offers a new route into publication for indie authors. It will be followed by Under Pressure and Echoes of Love. In addition, Roz is also working on a memoir, Sweet Dreams, about the seven years she and her late husband spent building their yacht in a draughty Dorset barn.
