Kana is MtF. Almost. Tomo is FtM. Or plans to be.
The x-jenda pair meet at high school and they hit it off right away. Then with the help of their teacher, Mandy, a Pasifika kindred spirit, they set about growing their rainbow gathering. But the conservative principal stymies their plans, resulting in a tragedy when Tomo’s friend, Ami, takes her own life. They blame the school and quit in a storm of internet indignation, with plans to open a café together. But when Tomo’s ogre of a father announces plans to move away, she flatly refuses to go and cops a vicious beating. It’s all too much. With her future destroyed, and the prospect of losing Kana too, she escapes into the night.
