Darkness in Ronda - - Andalusian Mystery Series 2
Formats: E-Book, Audio, Paperback
Ages: 18+
Bullfighting in Spain is fading fast. Protesters demand that this ancient, bloodthirsty ritual be banned. Rockstar bullfighter Diego Romero accepts the need for change. He proposes reforms to the wealthy, stubborn old men on the controlling committee to end the brutal killing of such magnificent animals in public arenas. They refuse to accept his suggestions despite the insistence from politicians and world leaders. This divide between traditionalists and modernisers escalates dramatically, culminating in a murder at La Goyesca, Ronda’s stylish bullfighting festival.
The outcome of this sensitive investigation could decide the fate of bullfighting. DI Leon Prado, with translators Amanda Salisbury and Phillip Armitage, is under pressure from all sides to solve the case quickly, but the truth proves elusive, unexpected, and personal.
Reviews
I purchased this book after a trip to Spain. In fact the author was our tour director. If you have any interest in the cultural aspects of bullfighting and have any curiosity or affection for the city of Ronda, this book is for you. Even though it is a mystery, all aspects of bullfighting (including the current issues concerning the sport) are explained and discussed through various characters and events. It is a very enjoyable read.
