I didn’t mean to upset her, but I did. Now, she’s coming for me, and I’m running for my life and hoping my hero, my magic-wielding papa, will save me in time. There’s only so much a kid can do against a dragon.

But I’m not the only one this dragon is after, and she tricked me to get at the portal in my cave. That magical doorway leads to a world where magic doesn’t exist, and I’m just a character in an epic fantasy book.

If I follow that dragon, I might cease to exist. If I don’t, she’ll destroy that parallel world and all the readers who believe in me. If they disappear, my world will end, and everyone I love will die. I can’t let that happen.

I might be screwed no matter what I do, but I’m not going down without a fight.
