Melanie is an Australian author, poet, and editor. She co-hosts the Story Nerd Podcast—a weekly podcast that helps writers demystify story theory by studying how experts apply it in their work. It has been on air for four years. Story Nerd is listened to in over 100 countries. She is a veteran and worked with her friend and fellow veteran Jennifer Crane to collate, edit, and publish the book Our Spirit: Creative Works of Australian Defence Force Women From 1960s Onward, which was published in 2020. Melanie has children’s short stories published in anthologies and online. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the Australian Fairy Tale Society’s E-Zine and the lead for the second AFTS anthology. Melanie has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, and Jett Cooper is her first young adult novel.
