The Price of Peace - The NanoMorphosis Saga 2
Formats: E-Book, Paperback, Hardback
Ages: 16-18
For years, humanity has been at war with the Garuda, an advanced alien civilization whose motives remain as mysterious as their origins. Now Daniel Walker is leading a mission to their distant homeworld, hoping to bring the conflict to an end.
But peace will not come easily.
On a world where humans struggle to survive, Daniel must navigate a civilization governed by rigid castes, ancient rituals, and beliefs that defy human understanding. As he ventures deeper into Garuda society, startling discoveries challenge everything he thought he knew about the war, the aliens themselves, and the mysterious beings they revere.
Meanwhile, Daniel's beloved Aurora is drawn into a dangerous confrontation with Morden Chayd, a brilliant and ruthless nanotechnologist whose ambitions threaten far more than her life.
And on Earth, an uncontrollable network of nanotechnology is spreading through the planet's biosphere, threatening humanity with a catastrophe of its own making.
As two worlds move toward an uncertain peace, Daniel faces an impossible choice. Saving the woman he loves may come at a terrible cost, while saving humanity could mean sacrificing the very technology on which its future depends.

Review #3: Review by Jamie Michele Reviewed by: Jamie Michele Review Rating: 5 Stars - Congratulations on your 5-star review! ________________________________________ Reviewed by Jamie Michele for Readers’ Favorite Marla L. Anderson’s The Price of Peace follows Daniel Walker, an astrophysicist commanding the Niña, a spaceship carrying a human expedition into alien territory in 2186. A war with the Garuda, a species of birdlike aliens, has threatened human settlements, and Daniel goes to their home world hoping to negotiate peace. His ship carries Nereids, small water creatures revered by the Garuda, as an offering to their leaders. But the aliens demand more from their visitors, and Daniel has to learn their customs. His plans for a colony on the planet Tau Medea IV hang in the balance. With him is his companion Aurora, whose shapeshifting abilities come from microscopic machines called nanobots. When related technology becomes a growing danger on Earth, Daniel’s peace mission is caught between conflicting priorities that extend far beyond one planet. Marla L. Anderson’s The Price of Peace is brilliant science fiction, with its highlight being the Garuda traditions that flesh out the world-building. This is book two in the Nanomorphosis Saga, but I didn't have any trouble following along from the first chapter. There's loads of suspense and great characters beyond the main cast, and I love the crew. Chegta, a Garuda warrior, is my favorite, whose stern instructions give Daniel a fighting chance when alien customs turn deadly. Dr. Veena Patel, the Niña’s medical director, adds urgency when a strange patient becomes key to figuring out a nanobot epidemic. The science fiction elements are creative and blend organically into the world, from Aurora disguising herself as cargo to researchers investigating a network spreading through Earth’s oceans. The pacing is refreshingly balanced in a book with quite a bit of dialogue-driven alien diplomacy. Well written and immersive, readers who enjoy high-spec and sophisticated sci-fi will adore this.
