Reviews

I didn’t expect to cry reading sci-fi, but Mason and Mya’s bond hit me so hard. It’s not loud or romantic in the usual way, it’s steady, unspoken, and deeply loyal. She’s his anchor, and he’s hers, even in silence. The way she just knows when he’s hurting… it wrecked me. This isn’t just about war, it’s about love that stays, even when the world falls apart.

Goodreads Review

A Gritty, Heroic Sci-Fi Epic with Heart and Honor Mark Jordan delivers a high-stakes, action-packed story that’s as emotionally grounded as it is thrilling. Darkness, Light and Fire isn’t just about intergalactic war it’s about one man’s strength, loyalty, and unbreakable resolve. Gunnery Sergeant Jackson Mason is a compelling protagonist equal parts battle-hardened soldier and deeply human hero. From the trenches of war to the political tension of New Terra, every scene is layered with tension, purpose, and a sense of realism that reflects Jordan’s background in rescue and service. The pacing is tight, the world-building rich, and the emotional moments hit hard. A must-read for fans of military sci-fi and character-driven fantasy. I’m excited to see where this series goes next.

Goodreads Review

f the first book in the Jackson Mason series was about surviving war, Darkness, Light, and Fire is about surviving everything after it. And in many ways, that’s the harder battle. Mark Jordan picks up right where he left off, but instead of diving into more explosions and shootouts, he zooms in on the cost, the emotional weight of command, the tension between forgiveness and justice, and the quiet grief that lingers long after the last shot’s fired. Mason’s still that gritty, no-nonsense Marine, but now he’s got a whole galaxy watching him, and expecting more than just muscle and tactics. I’ll be honest: parts of this book are slower. There’s a lot of political maneuvering, and some chapters read more like council transcripts than a sci-fi adventure. But stick with it. Because when this story hits especially the scenes around returning the Tarkanian Bachralle, it really hits. There’s something powerful about seeing an old warrior trying to make peace with his past, and helping others do the same. This isn’t just a military sci-fi series anymore. It’s a story about legacy, healing, and the messy road to becoming something more than what the war made you.
