Lorin wants to protect the people he cares about from the goblins and cave elves attacking the realms. But the raids are not random. A hidden power known only as the Master is pushing both forces towards a war that could destroy them all.

Armed with an enchanted sword and a growing command of magic, Lorin must persuade ancient enemies to stand together before fear destroys any hope of alliance and plunges every realm into chaos. Protecting his friends means venturing deeper into the conflict, where his forgotten past, royal blood and unexplained power draw him towards its center. Stopping the war may require more of him than all of that has demanded so far.

Because the closer Lorin comes to the Master, the clearer it becomes that the war reaches beyond the threatened realms and into something older and far less understood. Somehow, this ancient power passes through him too.
