The Pastor's Wife - Sunday Secrets 1
Formats: E-Book
Ages: 18+
He was a blue-eyed heathen with the manners of an alley cat, and I was a devout Christian woman he disliked on sight.
When Kova Novikoff picked me up at the airport for a month-long stay at his family's lodge, he was the rudest man I'd ever met. I'd come to Barrow, Alaska, a place as cold and barren as my womb, to write a devotional book to help other Christian women while I ignored my decades-long abusive marriage to a charismatic pastor with more demons than the blue-eyed devil who made me feel like a woman again. Kova's kindness, once he got to know me, more than made up for his rudeness, and the fire he ignited in me changed me.
Still, I wasn't sure I was strong enough to walk away from a life of lies for a slim chance with a man fourteen years younger than me who didn't believe in God and still clung to the memory of the wife he'd lost.
In the frozen tundra where even weeds couldn't grow, what chance did two very different people have when their hearts were just as cold?

CLorraine 5.0 out of 5 stars Spiritually Gritty Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2022 Format: KindleVerified Purchase The complexity level of this book was unexpected. It was very well written and certainly held my attention. Nola was the wife of a pastor....devout, demure, docile and dominated. She was barren and stayed in her place while her husband sowed his wild oats. Her desire to write a book took her to Alaska where she met Kova. He was also a writer but younger and did not have any religious leanings. He was also grappling with the loss of his wife through domestic violence. These two wounded souls connected in a way neither of them saw coming. The book is told from both point of views and contained realistic information about DV. While a really satisfying read, I was left wanting more. It looks like (at least I hope) December will have a story coming up and I really would like to see some more fall out from Nola's hypocritical abusive husband!!! If you are looking for a typical religious romance this is not it.....there are tasteful but candid love scenes.
Hawkeye 5.0 out of 5 stars Scandal, Abuse, Real Love Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2022 Format: KindleVerified Purchase This story felt real. It wasn't heavy handed with the Christianity, the other forms of belief, the non belief or the domestic violence. I wasn't even upset that the ending just happened , hinting to a new story. I loved the story of the main characters and the people who were interwoven into their lives whether for the good or the bad. I also liked that the sexual aspect was just a part if a real couples life growing into love, it wasn't hidden or greatly detailed was just enough to let you know they did more than just kiss.
