When the author created this book, she had input from cancer patients, cancer survivors, infusion centers, her cancer doctor and the leiomyosarcoma research administrator. She wanted to ensure that besides her own personal experiences with telling young children, she had expert advice as well.
Deborah Ann Martin was diagnosed with a rare cancer called uterine leiomyosarcoma (uLMS). She calls it "fibroids-gone-bad." It was difficult telling her family about the cancer, especially her young grandchildren. However, family, friends, and co-workers were very supportive. Her grandchildren did so many small things for her and with her. They brought joy in the middle of a difficult time.
