I was born in Rutherglen (just south-east of Glasgow) in Scotland, and brought up in Grangemouth. I attended Glasgow University (most of the time) and Jordanhill teacher training college. I taught maths for a couple of years in Edinburgh before moving up to Nairn where I lived for many years and where my late wife and I brought up our family. I taught maths for many years, including as an OU tutor, then moved into other education roles. In passing I got an OU BA and MSc - and felt I had been properly educated. With the advent of grandchildren, I moved to Broughty Ferry, and with the advent of retiral I started writing seriously, beginning with an OU course in creative writing. I also joined Rotary - a superb worldwide organisation which does so much to support people all over the world.
